An endangered invertebrate, Narrow-headed ant, found only at one heathland in South Devon and within the ancient pine forests of the Cairngorms of the Highlands. The project combines elements of design and performance exploring a more than human response to species persistence and diminishing biodiversity. Tiny Translocation Agency continues a throughline of artwork exploring imagined habitats as a final major project for MA Arts and Place, Dartington Arts School, South Devon, presented in 2023.
Pupils from Braemar Primary School have joined Tiny Translocation Agency as Ant Workers, helping to survey the woodland close to the the school as a potential suitable habitat for Narrow-headed ants and writer Leonie Charlton joins Tiny Translocation Agency as Colony Queen, in a role designed to support and nurture the ant workers, in particular with written responses to their survey work.
